Walking the Nydia Track Explore the Nydia Track on your way to On the Track Lodge. The track runs between Kaiuma Bay to Duncan Bay, takes two days (4-5 hours walking a day) and is classified as a 'challenging walk/easy tramp'
Mountain Biking Take the Nydia Track challenge and enjoy the terrain, bush and sea views. Its a Grade 4 track, technically challenging and best ridden in good weather. On the Track Lodge offers safe bike storage, bike wash down facilities and a hot tub for humans.
Kayaks Discover Nydia Bay on the water, at your own speed. Paddle around the coast to discover beautiful bays and small islands. Guests have free use of kayaks and stand up paddle boards.
Native Wildlife Take some time to get to know the local wildlife including tui, weka and kererū. At night visit the glowworms. If you are really fortunate you might see a seal or dolphin.
Hot Tub Soak away any tramping aches and pains in our outdoor hot tub by day or night.
Swimming The waters of Nydia Bay are safe, clean and clear. Shoes are recommended for the rocky shore especially if you are swimming out to explore one of the two little islands.
Bring Your Dog on Holiday Well behaved dogs are welcome at the Lodge. They can not come into any of the buildings but we do have alternative canine accommodation. Dogs also need a licence to be on the Nydia Track itself.
Photography Remember to bring your camera. The Nydia Bay areas offers some inspirational scenery to capture on film.
Fire Pit Spend some time with friends and fellow guests around the firepit and watch the stars coming out (available only when the fire season allows).
Historic Walks Nydia Bay was the site of intensive timber milling in the 19th century. Explore the Tramway path and see the remains of milling equipment buried in the bush.
Fishing Fishers are invited to bring their gear and try their luck off the Nydia jetty or shore. Kawhai are the usual catch but snapper have been known to take the lure.
Pelorus Mail Boat Travel to or from On the Track Lodge on the Wednesday Mail Boat run. Its a short journey from Havelock to Nydia Bay or, if you depart that day, you can enjoy several hours on board exploring the bays of the Pelorus before returning to Havelock.
Rest and Relaxation A hammock in the shade, a cool drink and a good book. On the Track Lodge specialises in providing peace and tranquility for holiday makers.
